"Will I be able to see the fireplace if I'm in the kitchen?"
"How much sun will we get in here when it's hot?"
"But, willl we have room enough in the library for a pool table if we make the craft room wider?"

Questions. Questions. Questions. There's a lot to think about when designing and building a new house. Gardner Partnership Architects have developed a programming questionnaire to help clients determine what they really want before they get too far into the design process.

Occupants, indoor or outdoor pets, number of vehicles, hobbies, frequency and kinds of entertaining . . .. so many things to think about. How much privacy do you need? What do you especially like (dislike) about your present home or another home you've lived in? Is there a special piece of furniture you want to spotlight in a particular room? Is there an architectural style you especially like or dislike? What about the kitchen - chef's dream or a can opener and a microwave?

Architectural renderings help clients visualize their home once it's in the design stage. Pictured here are drawings for a custom home near Zion National Park. Maximizing the view while minimizing the summer heat and making the most of the winter sun are important factors in this design.
