Located in an off-the-grid subdivision near Parowan, Utah, the self-contained home has its own water, sewer and energy systems. A solar hot water heater handles homeowners’ hot water needs. Photovoltaic cells on the roof provide power with battery storage, and a back-up generator is available should additional energy be needed.

The unique design of this recently completed home maximizes the view potential of the Southern Utah site while minimizing the impact on the property and the surrounding environment. Passive solar design welcomes the sun in the winter and keeps it at bay when temperatures soar in the summer. Over time, the galvanized metal siding will oxidize to match the Red Canyon soil.
