Home Planning Guide - Step 2

Step 2

Study Your Living Space Needs

Know:

    • The number, ages and habits of the occupants
    • Favorite types of entertainment activities and their frequencies
    • Storage requirements
    • The number and type of vehicles to be parked
    • Special privacy, security or accessibility needs
    • Favorite outdoor activities, places and views

List:

    • The activities that should occur in your new house

Work with your architect to study the possible spatial relationships and square footages required for the needed activities. Select the best all around arrangement. Your architect can now help you establish a preliminary construction budget.
