Cedar City Municipal Building, Cedar City, UT
<
From the time it opened its doors in 1933 until the move to a new facility in 1995, the U.S. Post Office was a hub of community activity. Now the historic building on Center and Main is home for Cedar City's administrative and departmental offices.

The GPA renovation and addition doubled the size of the original space. Careful attention to detail and the use of similar building materials and styles create a fluid transmission between old and new buildings. Classic lines and lighting lend to the feeling of opulence in the comfortable, light-filled environment.

Professional design is key to historic renovation. GPA successfully modernized the outdated building to accommodate complicated operational and information technology systems while retaining its original character.

One treasure from the old post office is the brass and glass table used by generations of postal customers. Now restored, the tall art deco table occupies a place of prominence in the front lobby. Another nod to the past is a display of historic community photographs in the Cedar City Council Chambers.
